According to Presidential Spokesperson, Ernesto Abella, the allegations
against Election Chairman and Chief has to be investigated fully. In a news conference, he quote "At this stage, that’s all we can say,"

Although Abella refused  to comment on Bautista's claim that allegations thrown at him by his own wife are not true, and were purely motivated by politics,  Abella mentioned that the President will never tolerate corruption and will support possible impeachment if necessary.

It was reported that Bautista already denied his wife's allegation, and claimed that he earned the money by practicing law. Said that his estranged wife's reason of coming out to public was to extort money from him.

Bautista told on an interview and quote "Hindi po totoo iyang mga paratang na iyan.
Patricia Bautista, wife of the Comelec chief, first came out earlier and reported that she had discovered passbooks, property documents and bank  accounts that were not part of her husband's 2016 SALN ( statement of assets, liabilities and net worth ).
